Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for richness)
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2-3 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- Whipped cream (for topping)
- A pinch of cinnamon or additional pumpkin pie spice (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Heat the milk and cream: In a saucepan, combine the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until warm, but not boiling.
2. Mix dry ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice.
3. Combine: Add the dry mixture to the warm milk, whisking constantly until fully combined and smooth.
4. Add pumpkin: Stir in the pumpkin puree and vanilla extract, blending well.
5. Heat: Continue to heat gently for 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently. Do not let it boil.
6. Serve: Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream, and sprinkle with cinnamon or extra spice if desired.
