Poor Man's Husband Casserole Recipe
A budget-friendly casserole with layers of savory ground beef, creamy cheese, and tender noodles, baked to bubbly, cheesy perfection!
Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs ground beef
2 cans tomato sauce (15 oz each)
8 oz cream cheese, softened
8 oz sour cream
8 oz egg noodles
1 ½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded
2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp sugar
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set it aside.
Cook the Noodles: In a large pot, cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Drain any excess fat.
Add Tomato Sauce: Stir the tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper into the cooked ground beef. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine.
Prepare the Creamy Sauce: In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
Assemble the Casserole:
Spread half of the cooked noodles in the prepared baking dish.
Layer half of the creamy sauce over the noodles.
Spread half of the meat sauce on top.
Repeat the layers with the remaining noodles, creamy sauce, and meat sauce.
Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling, and the casserole is heated through.
Serve: Let it sit for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy the rich, creamy, and cheesy goodness!
