How to Make Gel Air Fresheners at Home

Makes 2โ3 small jars
- 1 cup water (divided)
- 1 packet (0.25 oz) unflavored gelatin
- 1 tablespoon salt (prevents mold)
- 20โ30 drops essential oil (choose your favorite: lavender, lemon, eucalyptus, etc.)
- Food coloring (optional, for color)
- Small glass jars, mason jars, or decorative containers
- Optional: dried flowers, glitter, or herbs for visual flair

Step 1: Bloom the Gelatin
In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over ยฝ cup of cold water.
Let sit for 5โ10 minutes to bloom (absorb and thicken).
Step 2: Dissolve the Gelatin
Heat the remaining ยฝ cup water until nearly boiling.
Add it to the bloomed gelatin and stir until completely dissolved.
Step 3: Add Scent and Color
Stir in 1 tablespoon salt to preserve the gel.
Add 20โ30 drops of essential oil and 1โ2 drops food coloring if desired.
Optional: Mix in glitter, herbs, or dried flowers for decoration.
Step 4: Pour into Containers
Pour the mixture into small jars or containers.
Let cool and set at room temperature for several hours (or chill for faster setting).
Step 5: Display & Enjoy
Place your gel fresheners in bathrooms, closets, by the sink, or in your car.
Replace when the scent fades (lasts 2โ4 weeks depending on humidity and oils used).
