π Homemade Apple Crumble πͺ
Ingredients
For the Apple Filling:
2 lbs (about 1 kg) Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and cubed)
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
Β½ cup white sugar (or brown sugar for deeper flavor)
2 tbsp lemon juice
Β½ tsp ground cinnamon
For the Crumbly Topping:
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
Β½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Β½ cup (125g) melted unsalted butter
To Serve:
Vanilla ice cream (optional but highly recommended!)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Set your oven to 350Β°F (180Β°C). Make sure the rack is in the center position for even baking.
2. Prepare the Apples
Peel, core, and cut the apples into Β½-inch cubes. In a large bowl, toss them with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
3. Transfer to Baking Dish
Pour the apple mixture into a 1.5-quart (or 9x9-inch) baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
4. Mix the Topping
In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and mix until clumps formβlike wet sand.
5. Top the Apples
Sprinkle the topping over the apples, using your fingers to create a crumbly texture. Make sure the apples are fully covered.
6. Bake Until Golden
Place the dish in the oven and bake for 30β40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
7. Let It Rest
Once done, remove from the oven and loosely cover with foil. Let stand for 10 minutes so the juices can thicken slightly.
8. Serve Warm
Scoop into bowls and serve warm with a generous dollop of vanilla ice cream.
