Chili Garlic Sauce with a Hint of Lime
Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh red chilies, chopped (such as Thai or Fresno)
- 1/2 cup garlic cloves, peeled
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
Instructions:
1. In a blender or food processor, combine the chopped red chilies and garlic cloves. Pulse until finely minced.
2. In a saucepan, combine the minced chili and garlic mixture with white vinegar, water, sugar, salt, lime juice, and sesame oil.
3. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it cook for about 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
4. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Once cooled, transfer the sauce to a clean jar or container and store in the refrigerator.
This variation introduces a subtle tanginess from the lime juice while keeping the core flavors of the original chili garlic sauce intact. Enjoy!
