Apple Pie Bread
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sugar mixed with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon for topping
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
5. Mix in the sour cream until well combined.
6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
7. Fold in the diced apples and walnuts if using.
8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
9. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the top of the batter.
10. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
11. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
