When I was growing up, one of my favorite holiday memories was my Grammys Christmas corn. During the summer, she would get some fresh field corn (more savory than sweet). She would double cut it off the cob (corn tip then the rest of the kernel) and then take the back of the knife and "milk" all of the juices left on the cob. She would then fry it up in bacon grease in her cast iron skillet. We would have some then but she would freeze the rest. For our HUGE Christmas meal that she would bring out that corn. Oh my!! It would be soooo good and was my favorite part of the meal.
My Grammy put her heart into cooking for her family and it always showed.
