Ingredients:
6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
Β½ cup granulated sugar
Β½ cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
ΒΌ teaspoon ground nutmeg
ΒΌ cup unsalted butter, melted
Β½ cup apple juice or apple cider
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon water
Directions:
Place the sliced apples in the slow cooker.
In a medium bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly over the apples.
Drizzle the melted butter over the apples, then pour in the apple juice or cider.
Cover and cook on low for 3 hours or high for 1 Β½ to 2 hours, until the apples are tender but not mushy.
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Stir the slurry into the slow cooker during the last 15 minutes of cooking to thicken the sauce.
Serve the fried apples warm, spooned over pancakes, waffles, or as a side dish.
