Homemade Burger Buns
2 Tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/8 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
1/3 cup vegetable oil
4 Tbsp. sugar
1 extra-large egg, room temperature
1 teaspoon salt
3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
sesame seeds (optional)
1/4 cup butter, melted
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add oil and sugar; let stand for 5 minutes.
Add the egg, salt and enough flour to form a soft dough.
Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth 3-5 minutes. Divide dough into 12 pieces; shape each into a ball. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise for 15 minutes.
Brush each bun top with melted butter, sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Bake until golden brown, 8-12 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.
