Red Velvet Treat Delicious Cake Recipe

Ingredients

For the Red Velvet Cake:

2 ½ cups cake flour (or sifted all-purpose flour)

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon cocoa powder (unsweetened)

1 teaspoon salt

1 ½ cups vegetable oil

1 cup buttermilk, room temperature

2 large eggs, room temperature

2 tablespoons red food coloring

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon white vinegar

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

1 ½ (12 oz) blocks cream cheese, softened

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

5 cups powdered sugar, sifted

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Preparation

Make the Cake:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa powder, and salt.

In another bowl, whisk together the oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth and combined.

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans.

Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool the cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.

Make the Cream Cheese Frosting:

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until creamy and smooth.

Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating on low speed until incorporated.

Add vanilla and a pinch of salt. Beat until light and fluffy (about 3–5 minutes).

Assemble the Cake:

Level the cakes if necessary.

Place the first cake layer on a cake stand, spread a thick layer of frosting.

Repeat with remaining layers.

Frost the entire cake with a thin crumb coat, chill for 20 minutes, then apply a final thick, smooth layer.

Decorate with piped frosting swirls around the top and press some red velvet cake crumbs along the bottom edge, just like in your photo!
