Classic Beef Stroganoff 🍄
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs beef (sirloin or beef stew meat), thinly sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
1/2 cup sour cream
Salt and black pepper to taste
Cooked egg noodles or mashed potatoes, for serving
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Directions:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef in batches and brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until soft. Stir in garlic and mushrooms; cook for another 5 minutes until mushrooms are tender.
Sprinkle in the flour and stir well to coat everything evenly.
Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring, then add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard if using. Bring to a simmer.
Return the browned beef to the skillet. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 15-20 minutes, or until the beef is tender and the sauce thickens.
Remove from heat and stir in sour cream. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
Serve over cooked egg noodles or mashed potatoes. Garnish with parsley if desired.
