This classic French-inspired dish is rich, indulgent, and bursting with cheesy, creamy flavours. Perfect for a hearty meal or a luxurious side dish!
Ingredients:
🥔 Waxy Potatoes: 1kg, peeled and sliced into 5mm rounds
🧅 Onion: 1 large, finely sliced
🧄 Garlic Clove: 1, minced
🧈 Butter: 25g
🌿 Fresh Thyme: 1 tsp (optional)
🍶 Double Cream: 200ml
🥛 Milk: 100ml
🧀 Reblochon Cheese: 200g, sliced (or use Brie or Camembert as alternatives)
🧂 Salt and Pepper: To taste
Method:
🍳 Cook the Potatoes:
Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil. Add the sliced potatoes and parboil for 8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
🧅 Sauté the Onion:
In a frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened and golden. Stir in the thyme for extra fragrance (optional).
🥔 Assemble the Tartiflette:
Preheat your oven to 200°C (fan). Grease a large ovenproof dish with butter.
Layer half the potatoes in the dish, season with salt and pepper, and top with half the onion mixture. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and onion.
🧀 Add the Cheese and Cream:
Pour the double cream and milk evenly over the dish. Arrange the sliced Reblochon (or alternative cheese) on top, ensuring it covers the potatoes.
🔥 Bake:
Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, golden, and bubbling.
🌿 Serve:
Let the tartiflette rest for a few minutes before serving. Pair it with a crisp green salad for a balanced meal.
