CLASSIC SPAGHETTI WITH SAVORY MEAT SAUCE

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef
12 oz spaghetti
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small yellow onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional, for heat)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for topping)
Fresh chopped basil or parsley, for garnish

Directions:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until softened.
Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
Season with Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper (if using), salt, and pepper.
Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and sugar. Stir well to combine.
Simmer sauce on low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and rich.
Stir in Parmesan cheese and adjust seasonings if needed.
Toss cooked spaghetti with the sauce or serve sauce over top.
Garnish with more Parmesan and fresh herbs before serving.
