One-Pot Creamy Buffalo Cajun Sausage Penne
Ingredients:
1 lb Italian sausage, casing removed
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
12 oz penne pasta
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup buffalo sauce
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook, breaking it up into crumbles, until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.
2. Stir in Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the spices become fragrant.
3. Add the uncooked penne pasta to the pot, followed by the chicken broth and buffalo sauce. Stir to combine, ensuring the pasta is submerged.
4. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10-12 minutes, or until the pasta is tender and the liquid has reduced.
5. Reduce the heat to low, and stir in the heavy cream, cream cheese, and Parmesan cheese until the sauce is creamy and smooth.
6. Season with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting the creaminess and spice level by adding more buffalo sauce or cream if desired.
7. Once the sauce has thickened and everything is heated through, remove from heat.
8. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
