π Ingredients
For the Cake:
β’ 2 Β½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
β’ 1 Β½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
β’ 1 tsp baking soda
β’ 1 tsp baking powder
β’ 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (just a hint!)
β’ Β½ tsp salt
β’ 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk
β’ Β½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil
β’ 2 large eggs
β’ 1 tsp white vinegar
β’ 2 tsp vanilla extract
β’ Purple gel food coloring (start with 1β2 tsp β adjust for intensity)
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
β’ 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
β’ 450g (16 oz) cream cheese, softened
β’ 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar, sifted
β’ 2 tsp vanilla extract
β’ Pinch of salt

1. Preheat & Prep
β’ Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
β’ Grease and line two 8-inch (20cm) round cake pans.
2. Make the Cake Batter
β’ In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa, and salt.
β’ In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, oil, eggs, vinegar, vanilla, and purple food coloring.
β’ Gradually add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth and evenly colored. Add more coloring if needed for that deep, royal purple!
3. Bake
β’ Divide the batter evenly between the pans.
β’ Bake for 30β35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
β’ Let the cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
4. Make the Frosting
β’ Beat butter and cream cheese together until smooth and fluffy.
β’ Add powdered sugar gradually, then vanilla and a pinch of salt.
β’ Beat until creamy and spreadable. Chill slightly if itβs too soft.
5. Assemble & Decorate
β’ Layer your cooled cakes with cream cheese frosting in between.
β’ Frost the top and sides, smoothing with a spatula.
