🍥 Cinnamon Roll Poke Cake 🍰
Ingredients
For the Cake:
1 box (15.25 oz/432g) yellow cake mix
Ingredients listed on the cake mix box (eggs, oil, water)
For the Cinnamon Glaze:
1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream
1 tsp ground cinnamon
For the Frosting:
4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups (180g) powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2-3 tbsp milk
Optional Toppings:
Chopped nuts, caramel drizzle, or extra cinnamon
Instructions
Bake the Cake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the cake mix according to the package instructions and bake in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes after baking.
Make the Cinnamon Glaze: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, heavy cream, and cinnamon. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly.
Poke the Cake: Use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake. Pour the warm cinnamon glaze over the cake, spreading it evenly so it seeps into the holes.
Prepare the Frosting: In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk, beating until the frosting is creamy and spreadable.
Frost the Cake: Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
Serve and Enjoy: Slice and serve the cake as is, or top with chopped nuts, a caramel drizzle, or a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra flair!
