Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
Directions:
1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
2. In a large bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Add the yeast mixture and mix well.
3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 16x12 inch rectangle.
6. In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
7. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough.
8. Combine ground cinnamon and granulated sugar and sprinkle over the cream cheese layer.
9. Starting from the long side, tightly roll up the dough and cut into 12 equal slices.
10. Place rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
11. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
