β’ 1Β½ tsp vanilla extract
β’ ΒΎ cup (90g) chopped walnuts (lightly toasted)
β’ Optional: Β½ cup (90g) chocolate chips or chunks
For the Topping (optional):
β’ A handful of chopped walnuts
β’ Melted dark chocolate or ganache drizzle
β’ Powdered sugar dusting

1. Prep:
β’ Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
β’ Grease and line a 9-inch round or 8-inch square cake pan.
β’ Lightly toast the walnuts in a dry pan for 3β4 minutes, then let them cool.
2. Make the Batter:
1 In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
2 In another bowl, beat eggs, sugars, oil, sour cream, milk, and vanilla until well combined.
3 Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until just combined.
4 Fold in the toasted walnuts and chocolate chips if using.
3. Bake:
β’ Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
β’ Sprinkle extra walnuts on top if desired.
β’ Bake for 35β40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
β’ Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
4. Finish & Serve:
β’ Drizzle with melted chocolate or ganache, or dust with powdered sugar.
