Cold Oven Seasoned Baked Chicken
Nothing beats a good baked chicken. This chicken starts off in a cold oven. This technique of baking chicken produces a very moist and delicious chicken. Just remember that how you put that chicken in is how it will come out. Chickens are bland and need lots of seasoning.
~~Ingredients ~~
1 (3-1/2 -4 pound) whole chicken
1 large yellow onion, sliced into rings
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup water
Seasonings
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon celery flakes
1 teaspoon Lawrys Seasoning Salt
1 teaspoon
Complete seasoning
1 teaspoon Kinder’s Buttery Poultry Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
**Combine all seasonings in a bowl and mix together.
~~Instructions ~~
Do Not Preheat Oven. In a roasting/baking pan with a lid, add your sliced onions over the bottom of the pan creating a little bed to lay your chicken on.
Wash and clean your chicken, and pat it dry with paper towels.
Rub the softened butter all over the chicken. Using your hands, ( I do this with gloves) you do it how you choose. Rub the seasonings all over the chicken, including inside the cavity of the chicken too until all the seasoning is gone. Then place your chicken on top of the bed of onions. Pour 1/2 cup of water into the side of the pan. Cover with a lid. Place the roasting pan in the cold oven and turn the oven to 450 degrees. When the oven comes up to the 450 degree setting, let the chicken cook for another 5 minutes. Then lower the setting to 375 degrees. Do Not Open The Oven. Bake the chicken at 375 for 90 minutes. Remove from oven, remove lid and let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
