BBQ Bacon-Wrapped Mozzarella Sticks
Ingredients:
1 package (16 ounces) mozzarella sticks, frozen
1 package (1 pound) bacon, sliced
1/2 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite kind)
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Toothpicks or small skewers
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easier cleanup.
2. In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. This is your BBQ glaze.
3. Thaw the mozzarella sticks slightly. They should be soft enough to handle but not completely thawed. If they are still very hard, you can microwave them for 15-30 seconds in intervals to soften.
4. Wrap each mozzarella stick with a slice of bacon, securing it with a toothpick or small skewer. You might need to use a small piece of bacon to secure especially long sticks.
5. Place the bacon-wrapped mozzarella sticks on the prepared baking sheet.
6. Brush each mozzarella stick generously with the BBQ glaze, ensuring all sides are coated.
7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the mozzarella is melted and bubbly. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning; oven temperatures can vary. You may need to flip them halfway through for even cooking.
8. Let the mozzarella sticks cool slightly before serving. The cheese will be very hot! Remove the toothpicks or skewers before serving.
