Pan-Seared Strip Steak
Ingredients:
1 strip steak (about 1-inch thick)
Salt & freshly ground black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
2 tbsp butter
3 cloves garlic, smashed
Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs (optional)
Instructions: 1️⃣ Take the steak out of the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to reach room temperature. Pat dry with paper towels. 2️⃣ Season both sides generously with salt and pepper. 3️⃣ Heat oil in a heavy skillet (cast iron works best) over high heat until shimmering. 4️⃣ Add steak to the pan and sear without moving for 3-4 minutes until a golden-brown crust forms. 5️⃣ Flip the steak, add butter, garlic, and herbs to the pan. Tilt the pan and spoon the melted butter over the steak repeatedly for 3-4 minutes (for medium-rare). 6️⃣ Remove steak and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing to keep it juicy. 7️⃣ Slice against the grain and serve
