Blackened Steak & Shrimp with Cajun Cream Sauce
Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 ribeye or sirloin steaks
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
1 cup heavy cream
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon butter
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Steaks
Pat the steaks dry with paper towels to ensure a good sear. Season both sides generously with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let the steaks rest at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes to absorb the flavors.
2. Cook the Steaks
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the seasoned steaks to the skillet. Sear the steaks for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or longer if you prefer a different level of doneness. Aim for a rich, blackened crust on the outside.
3. Rest the Steaks
Once the steaks are cooked to your liking, remove them from the skillet and transfer them to a plate. Cover with aluminum foil to keep warm while preparing the shrimp.
4. Cook the Shrimp
In the same skillet, add the butter and melt it over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the shrimp and sprinkle with a little more Cajun seasoning. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through.
5. Make the Cajun Cream Sauce
Lower the heat and carefully pour in the heavy cream. Stir to combine with the shrimp and garlic. Let the mixture simmer for about 3 to 4 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
6. Finish the Sauce
Stir in the lemon juice and taste the sauce, adjusting the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
7. Serve
Place the blackened steaks on plates and top with the creamy Cajun shrimp and sauce. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color.
8. Enjoy
Savor the rich and bold flavors of this southern-inspired dish, perfect for any special occasion or weeknight dinner.
