🍎 Slow Cooker Cracker Barrel Fried Apples 🍞
Ingredients
4 medium-sized apples (a mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp works well)
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional, for extra warmth)
1/8 tsp salt
2–3 tbsp water (as needed)
Vanilla extract (optional, for flavor boost)
Instructions
Peel, core, and slice the apples into even thin wedges for consistent cooking.
In a large skillet over medium heat , melt the butter until bubbly.
Add apples in a single layer , working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan.
Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt evenly over the apples.
Cook for 8–10 minutes , stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and lightly caramelized. If the pan gets too dry, add a tablespoon of water at a time to help steam and soften the apples.
For deeper flavor, add a few drops of vanilla extract at the end of cooking and stir to combine.
Serve warm as a side dish, topping, or standalone treat.
