Gummy Glazed Donuts 🍩🍭
Ingredients:
For the Donuts:
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
½ cup warm milk (110°F)
¼ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 egg
½ tsp salt
½ tsp vanilla extract
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Candy Glaze:
¾ cup hard candies (Jolly Ranchers, Life Savers, or lollipops)
2 tbsp water
½ cup powdered sugar
Directions:
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Roll out dough to ½-inch thickness, cut into donut shapes, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
Crush hard candies and place them in a saucepan with water over low heat. Stir until fully melted, then whisk in powdered sugar.
Dip warm donuts into the candy glaze, letting excess drip off. Let set before serving. Enjoy!
