crispy potatoes in air fryer
Ingredients:
Potatoes (russet or Yukon Gold work well)
Olive oil or your preferred cooking oil
Salt
Optional: herbs or spices of your choice (such as rosemary, thyme, garlic powder, paprika, etc.)
Instructions:
Preparation: Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. You can peel them if you prefer, but leaving the skins on can add extra flavor and texture. Cut the potatoes into evenly-sized pieces. Smaller pieces will cook faster and crisp up better.
Soak (Optional): Soaking the cut potatoes in cold water for about 30 minutes to an hour can help remove excess starch, resulting in crispier potatoes. After soaking, make sure to pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.
Seasoning: In a bowl, toss the potato pieces with a drizzle of olive oil until they’re evenly coated. Add salt and any other herbs or spices you like, and toss again to ensure even distribution.
Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to around 380°F (190°C) for a few minutes.
Cooking: Once the air fryer is preheated, place the seasoned potato pieces in the basket in a single layer, ensuring they’re not overcrowded. If necessary, cook in batches.
Air Frying: Cook the potatoes in the air fryer for about 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket or turning the potatoes halfway through cooking to ensure even crispiness. Cooking time may vary depending on the size of your potato pieces and the air fryer model you’re using.
Check for Doneness: Potatoes should be golden brown and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside when done. If they need more time, continue cooking in the air fryer in 5-minute increments until desired crispiness is achieved.
Serve: Once done, transfer the crispy potatoes to a serving dish and serve hot. They’re great as a side dish or as a snack with your favorite dipping sauce.
