Garlic Butter Steak & Shrimp Plate with Asparagus
Ingredients
For the Main:
• 1 New York strip steak or ribeye (~8 oz)
• 6–8 large shrimp, peeled & deveined (tails on)
• 2 tbsp butter
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• Salt & black pepper, to taste
• 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
For the Sides:
• 1 cup mashed potatoes (homemade or store-bought)
• 6–8 asparagus spears, trimmed
• 1 lemon wedge (for garnish)
Instructions
1️⃣ Cook the Steak:
• Pat steak dry with paper towels.
• Season generously with salt and black pepper.
• Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over high heat.
• Sear steak for 3–4 minutes per side or until desired doneness (internal temp of 130°F for medium-rare).
• Transfer to a plate and let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
2️⃣ Sauté the Shrimp:
• In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add 2 tbsp butter.
• Stir in minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
• Add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
• Sprinkle with chopped parsley and set aside.
3️⃣ Prepare the Asparagus:
• Option 1 – Steam: Steam spears for 4–5 minutes until tender-crisp.
• Option 2 – Roast: Toss asparagus in olive oil, salt, and pepper, and roast at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes.
4️⃣ Build the Plate:
• Spoon mashed potatoes onto a plate and smooth into a bed.
• Slice steak and fan over the potatoes.
• Add shrimp alongside and top with garlic butter from the skillet.
• Arrange asparagus on the side.
5️⃣ Garnish:
• Squeeze lemon wedge over everything.
• Add extra parsley or cracked pepper if desired.
