Fireworks in a Jar
π Supplies Needed:
For one fireworks jar
- 1 large clear jar or glass vase (mason jar, wide drinking glass, etc.)
- Warm water
- 2β3 tbsp vegetable oil
- Several drops of food coloring (red, blue, yellow, green, etc.)
- A fork, toothpick, or small whisk
- Optional: glitter (for extra sparkle!)

Step 1: Fill the Jar
Fill the clear jar about ΒΎ full with warm water (warm helps the colors move better).
Step 2: Prep the Color Fireworks
In a small bowl or cup, add 2β3 tablespoons of oil.
Add 4β6 drops of food coloring (use multiple colors).
Stir the oil and food coloring briefly with a fork or toothpickβthe drops should break up into tiny colored bubbles.
Step 3: Let the Show Begin!
Gently pour the oil/food coloring mix into the jar of warm water.
Watch as the food coloring begins to sink and dissolve, creating colorful trails and burstsβjust like fireworks underwater!
