Beef Chow Mein Recipe
Ingredients:
• For the Stir-Fry:
o 8 oz beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
o 2 tablespoons soy sauce
o 1 tablespoon cornstarch
o 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
o 1 cup bean sprouts
o 1 cup bell pepper, sliced (any color)
o 1 cup carrots, julienned
o 1 cup cabbage, shredded
o 2 green onions, chopped
o 2 cloves garlic, minced
o 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
• For the Sauce:
o 3 tablespoons soy sauce
o 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
o 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
o 1 tablespoon sesame oil
o 1 teaspoon sugar
o 1/4 cup beef broth (or water)
• For the Noodles:
o 8 oz chow mein noodles (or egg noodles)
Directions:
1. Prepare the Noodles:
o Cook the chow mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. Marinate the Beef:
o In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
3. Make the Sauce:
o In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and beef broth. Set aside.
4. Stir-Fry the Beef:
o Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
5. Stir-Fry the Vegetables:
o In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
o Add the bell pepper, carrots, and cabbage. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
o Add the bean sprouts and green onions, cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
6. Combine Everything:
o Return the cooked beef to the pan with the vegetables. Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables, stirring to combine.
o Add the cooked noodles and toss everything together until evenly coated in the sauce.
7. Serve:
o Serve hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
