Crispy Fried Mushrooms
Ingredients:
10 ounces fresh white mushrooms, wiped clean
1 cup flour
½ cup cornstarch
¾ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup water
2 cups breadcrumbs (Panko preferred)
Oil, for deep frying
Directions:
In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually whisk in water until the batter is smooth.
Dip each mushroom into the batter, letting the excess drip off.
Roll the mushrooms in breadcrumbs, ensuring they are fully coated.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the mushrooms in batches for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels and serve hot with cocktail sauce or your favorite dip.
