Would you eat this Patty Melt with Secret Sauce ?
Ingredients:
For the Patty Melt:
1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
8 slices rye bread
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 slices cheddar cheese
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for onions)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for bread)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Secret Sauce:
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon pickle relish
Directions:
Prepare the Caramelized Onions:
Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and caramelized. Set aside.
Cook the Burger Patties:
Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the bread slices. Season with salt and pepper.
Cook the patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side until cooked to your preferred doneness. Remove and set aside.
Make the Secret Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and pickle relish until well combined.
Assemble the Patty Melts:
Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of rye bread. On the unbuttered side, layer a slice of cheddar cheese, a burger patty, caramelized onions, and a slice of Swiss cheese. Top with another slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
Cook the Patty Melts:
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook each sandwich for 2-3 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted.
Serve:
Slice each patty melt in half and serve with the secret sauce on the side for dipping or drizzling.
