Apple Cobbler
Ingredients:
- 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (about 6 medium apples)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with 1 cup sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside to macerate for 10 minutes.
3. Pour the apple mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
5. Stir in the milk and melted butter until just combined to form a batter.
6. Spoon the batter evenly over the apples, spreading gently but not covering all the fruit to allow some peeking through.
7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the cobbler topping comes out clean.
8. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Tips:
Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a balance of sweet and tangy flavors.
Let the cobbler rest for 10 minutes after baking to allow the juices to thicken.
