Homemade Turtle Candies
Ingredients:
- 2 cups pecan halves
- 1 bag (11 oz) soft caramels (like Kraft or Werther’s)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1½ cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange pecan halves in small clusters of 3-4 pieces each.
2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine caramels and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and creamy.
3. Spoon a small amount of caramel over each pecan cluster, covering them evenly.
4. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes, or until the caramel is set.
5. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until fully melted and smooth.
6. Drizzle or spoon melted chocolate over the caramel-covered pecans, covering them completely.
7. Return the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
8. Once set, remove the candies from the parchment paper and store in an airtight container.
