Smoked Cheddar Burgers

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 hamburger buns
4 slices smoked cheddar cheese
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
4 slices bacon (optional)
Lettuce leaves (optional)
Tomato slices (optional)
Red onion slices (optional)
Pickles (optional)

Instructions:

1. Gently combine the ground beef, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt in a large bowl. Avoid overmixing, as this can result in tough burgers. Form the mixture into four equal-sized patties, slightly larger than your buns. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from bulging during cooking.

2. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add the burger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for your desired level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches at least 160°F (71°C) for safety.

3. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of smoked cheddar cheese. Allow the cheese to melt completely. If using bacon, cook it separately until crispy and place it on the burgers.

4. While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns. You can do this in the same skillet, or in a separate pan over medium heat.

5. Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on the bottom halves of the buns. Add the cooked burger patties, followed by your desired toppings such as lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.

6. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Smoked Cheddar Burgers!
