🍞 Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast
Ingredients:
8 oz dried chipped beef, sliced
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 slices of toasted bread
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Beef: Rinse the chipped beef under cold water to remove some of the saltiness, then pat dry and slice into bite-sized pieces.
2. Make the Roux: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sprinkle in the flour, whisking constantly for 1-2 minutes until smooth and bubbly (this creates a roux).
3. Add Milk: Gradually add milk, continuing to whisk until the mixture thickens and becomes creamy, about 5 minutes.
4. Combine with Beef: Add the chipped beef to the skillet, stirring to combine. Season with salt and pepper as desired.
5. Serve: Spoon the creamed chipped beef over slices of toasted bread. Enjoy while hot!
