Classic Lasagna

Ingredients:

12 lasagna noodles
1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 egg
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add onion and garlic, sautéing until softened.
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and parsley.
In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by a layer of noodles, then ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
