Air fryer crispy fried onions
Ingredients:
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil or cooking spray
Salt to taste (optional)
Any additional seasoning of your choice (such as garlic powder, paprika, or chili powder)
Instructions:
Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (180°C) for a few minutes.
While the air fryer is preheating, thinly slice the onion into rings or half moons. Separating the rings helps in achieving even crispiness.
Place the sliced onions in a bowl and toss them with olive oil or spray them evenly with cooking spray. You want to coat the onions lightly and evenly.
If desired, sprinkle salt and any additional seasoning over the onions and toss again to distribute the seasoning evenly.
Once the air fryer is preheated, transfer the seasoned onions to the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
Cook the onions in the air fryer for about 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them towards the end to prevent burning, as cooking times can vary based on the air fryer model and thickness of the onions.
Once the onions are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
