DIY Easter Egg Soap Dough : Squishy, Mouldable, Clean Fun for Kids — Like Playdough, but Soap!
Ingredients:
(Makes enough for 6–8 small soap eggs)
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 cup liquid castile soap (unscented or mild scented)
- 1–2 tbsp coconut oil or olive oil (for softness)
- Few drops of food colouring or soap-safe colouring (pastel tones work best)
- Optional: 5–10 drops essential oils (lavender, citrus, or peppermint)
- Optional: biodegradable glitter or mica powder for shimmer
- Small Easter egg moulds or shape cutters
---
Directions:
Step 1: Mix the Base
1. In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch and liquid castile soap.
2. Stir until a soft dough forms — add oil 1 tbsp at a time to soften and smooth.
3. If it’s too dry, add a little more soap; if too sticky, add a bit more cornstarch.
---
Step 2: Colour & Scent
1. Divide the dough into small bowls (1 per colour).
2. Add a drop or two of food colouring or mica powder to each portion.
3. Knead the dough until colour is evenly distributed.
4. Add essential oils if using.
---
Step 3: Shape the Dough
1. Press the dough into clean, dry plastic Easter egg moulds or shape by hand.
2. Let air dry uncovered for 24 hours if you want it to firm up slightly.
3. Keep soft dough stored in an airtight container if you want to keep it squishy like playdough.
---
Step 4: Use & Enjoy
1. Use the soap dough just like regular soap — pinch off a bit and lather with water.
2. Great for hand washing or bath time fun!
---
Tips:
- Store in small airtight containers to keep dough soft and pliable.
- Use soap-safe dyes if making for sensitive skin.
- Wrap shaped soaps in cellophane or place in Easter baskets for homemade gifts.
- Not for eating — always supervise small children during play.
