Classic New Orleans Bread Pudding
Ingredients:
6 cups day-old French bread, cubed
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
¾ cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
½ cup raisins (optional)
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together milk, heavy cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Add the cubed bread to the mixture, stirring gently to coat. Let it soak for 15-20 minutes.
Stir in the raisins, then transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Drizzle melted butter on top.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Serve warm, optionally topped with caramel sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
