Homemade Onion Rings
Ingredients:
- 1 large sweet onion
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- ¾ cup breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
Directions:
1. Peel the onion and slice it into ¼ inch thick rings. Separate the rings carefully.
2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
4. Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
6. Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
7. Remove and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot.
