Method
🍳 Preheat the oven: Heat your oven to 180°C (fan 160°C). Grease and line two 20cm round cake tins with baking parchment.
🥣 Cream butter and sugar: Beat the butter and caster sugar together in a large bowl until pale and fluffy.
🥚 Add the eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
🌾 Combine dry ingredients: Sift together the self-raising flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Fold this into the wet mixture along with the ground hazelnuts (if using). Add the milk and mix until smooth.
