OLD-FASHIONED ORANGE CAKE #fallflavors
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 egg yolks (save the egg whites)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 3/4 cups cake flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
pinch of salt
3/4 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon grated orange rind

Preheated oven to 350 degrees F
Combine ingredients in order given. Butter and flour two round layer cake pans, tapping out excess flour. Level cake batter evenly in pans. Bake until cake tests done in center, about 25-30 minutes
Cool completely and frost.

ORANGE CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter
2 Tablespoons orange juice
2 teaspoons orange zest
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups powdered sugar, or as needed
Beat cream cheese, butter, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla together in a large bowl using an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy; gradually beat in powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
