Flavorful Indian Butter Tofu
Ingredients:
- 300 g firm tofu, cubed
- 3 tablespoons oil or vegan butter
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 1 can (400 g) tomato puree
- 1 cup coconut milk or heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro leaves (for garnish)
- Fresh naan for serving
Directions:
1. Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add cubed tofu and cook until lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
2. In the same skillet, sauté onions until golden. Add garlic and ginger paste, cooking for another minute.
3. Stir in tomato puree, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, chili powder, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes, allowing the spices to bloom.
4. Pour in the coconut milk or cream and simmer for another 5 minutes.
5. Add tofu to the sauce, stirring gently to coat. Cook for 3 more minutes.
6. Serve hot with fresh naan and garnish with cilantro.
