Apple Fritter Bread

Ingredients:

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups peeled and finely chopped apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
5. Alternately add the flour mixture and sour cream to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
6. Gently fold in the chopped apples and pecans if using.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
8. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. While the bread cools in the pan for 10 minutes, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
10. Remove the bread from the pan and place it on a wire rack. Drizzle the glaze over the warm bread.
11. Let the bread cool completely before slicing.
