Bannock is always a hit in this house.
ACTUALLY it is a Native American or First Nations in Canada bread, been ariund for hundreds of years.
Recipe:
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups water
¼ cup butter, melted.
Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Pour water and melted butter over flour mixture. Stir with a fork to make a ball.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently about 10 times. Pat into a flat circle(I like mine biscuit size though) 3/4- to 1-inch thick.
Warm greased pan to medium heat
Cook for 15 minutes on each side (I find it takes less time, just flip when it reaches the desired colour)
Eat as is or slice and add butter, jam or any toppings you like.
