Irresistible Red Velvet Cream Cheese Brownies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, combine melted butter and 2 cups granulated sugar, mixing until smooth.
4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in 2 teaspoons vanilla extract and red food coloring.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
6. In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, egg yolk, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
7. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly.
8. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter, then pour the remaining brownie batter on top. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese into the batter for a marbled effect.
9. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
10. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
