Homemade Baked Mac and Cheese
Ingredients:
- 16 oz elbow macaroni
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Bread crumbs for topping (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
4. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Cook until the mixture thickens, stirring constantly.
5. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted.
6. Season with salt and pepper, then add in the cooked macaroni and mix well.
7. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and top with bread crumbs, if desired.
8. Bake for 30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
