Baked Italian Sub Sandwiches Ingredients:
For the Sandwiches:

4 hoagie rolls (sub rolls)

1/2 lb sliced deli ham

1/2 lb sliced salami

1/2 lb sliced pepperoni

1/2 lb sliced provolone cheese (or mozzarella)

1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)

1 small tomato, thinly sliced

1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)

1/4 cup roasted red peppers, sliced (optional)

For the Italian Dressing:

1/4 cup olive oil

2 tablespoons red wine vinegar

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

A pinch of crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

2. Prepare the Italian Dressing:
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.

3. Assemble the Sandwiches:
Cut the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise but do not cut all the way through (leave them attached at the bottom).

Open the rolls and layer the bottom with slices of ham, salami, and pepperoni. Add a slice of provolone cheese on top of the meats.

If you’re using onions, tomatoes, olives, or roasted red peppers, layer those on top of the cheese.

Drizzle a generous amount of the Italian dressing over the fillings.

4. Bake the Sandwiches:
Close the sandwiches and wrap them individually in aluminum foil.

Place the wrapped sandwiches on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are heated through. For extra crispiness, open the foil for the last 5 minutes of baking.

5. Serve:
Once baked, remove the sandwiches from the oven and carefully unwrap the foil.

Slice the sandwiches into individual servings, and serve immediately.

Tips:
Make It Your Own: Feel free to add other Italian ingredients like capicola, mortadella, or even fresh basil for extra flavor.

Extra Melty Cheese: For extra melty goodness, add a second layer of cheese on top of the sandwich fillings before baking.

Crispy Option: If you like your sub rolls a little crispier, toast the rolls before assembling the sandwiches and add the filling afterward.

These Baked Italian Sub Sandwiches are packed with classic Italian deli flavors and make a perfect meal for a quick weeknight dinner or a casual gathering!
