Wonton Soup
Ingredients:
For the Wontons:
1/2 pound ground pork
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 green onions, finely chopped
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
24 square wonton wrappers
For the Soup:
6 cups chicken broth
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 cup baby bok choy, chopped
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
Additional sliced green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, soy sauce, minced ginger, minced garlic, chopped green onions, sesame oil, cornstarch, and ground black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
To assemble the wontons, place about 1 teaspoon of the pork mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold one corner over to the opposite corner to form a triangle. Press the edges to seal, making sure there are no air pockets trapped inside.
In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a simmer over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 2 minutes.
Gently add the wontons to the simmering broth and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the wontons are cooked through and float to the surface.
Stir in the chopped baby bok choy, sliced green onions, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Allow the soup to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the bok choy is tender and wilted.
Serve the wonton soup hot, garnished with additional sliced green onions if desired.
Enjoy your delicious homemade wonton soup!
