Fried Cabbage
Ingredients:
- 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
- 6 slices of bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Cook the Bacon:
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until itβs crispy. Remove the bacon and set it aside, leaving the bacon drippings in the skillet.
2. SautΓ© the Onion and Garlic:
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the bacon drippings and cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
3. Cook the Cabbage:
- Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring to combine with the onion and garlic.
- Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and begins to caramelize.
4. Season the Cabbage:
- Sprinkle the smoked paprika over the cabbage (if using) and stir to combine.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the butter to the skillet and let it melt, stirring it into the cabbage.
- If you prefer a tangy flavor, drizzle the apple cider vinegar over the cabbage and stir well.
5. Finish and Serve:
- Stir the cooked bacon back into the skillet with the cabbage.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
