Bobby Flay Salisbury Steak
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
1 large egg
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large onion, sliced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups beef broth
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Chopped parsley, for garnish
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, finely chopped parsley, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined, then shape the mixture into 4 oval patties.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and mushrooms. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-6 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened and lightly browned.
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1 minute.
In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, tomato paste, and cornstarch until smooth. Pour the mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the onion and mushroom mixture over the top. Cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
